Physical Eduaction

Welcome to Bear Creek PE

  • What is PE?
    • PE stands for Physical Education.
    • It’s a class where you learn about moving your body, being active, and staying healthy.
  • Skills We Learn:
    • Locomotor Skills: These are skills that help us move from one place to another. Examples include walking, running, and jumping.
    • Non-Locomotor Skills: These are movements that happen while we stay in one spot. Think of stretching, bending, or balancing.
    • Manipulative Skills: These involve using objects, like throwing a ball, catching, or kicking.
  • What We Do in PE:
    • We play educational games, dance, and learn skills.
    • We learn how our body moves in different ways (like up, down, forward, backward).
    • We practice skills like jumping, throwing, skipping, hopping, catching, and kicking.
    • We incorporate STEM challenges and combine reading and math skills with movement.
  • Why PE Matters:
    • Learning these skills helps us in many ways:
      • We become better at sports and games.
      • Our brains work better when we’re active.
      • We make friends and have fun.
      • It keeps us interested in being active as we grow up.
  • Fitness:
    • Being fit means being healthy and strong.
    • At Bear Creek, we learn lots of basic movements to stay fit.
